We are a member society of the Alberta SPCA. We run the local animal shelter here in The Crowsnest Pass. Our main aim is to place homeless or unwanted animals into homes which are appropriate for each individual animal.

Our cats are free roaming in a large home atmosphere as well as individual cages for each new animal to settle in and meet their new roommates. Our dogs have heated runs as well as a large play yard.

Volunteers are the primary care givers. They come twice per/day, seven days a week to clean, feed, walk, take care of and play with the animals. Most of our volunteers have been with us for a number of years and come in for a few hours a day once a week.

Come on in and visit us to see if we have the right pet for you. We are open Monday - Thursday 12:30 - 3:30 for viewing animals. Our adoption fees are $65 for a cat & $95 for a dog. With every adoption, we give a spay/neuter voucher if we have not already fixed the animal. The adoption voucher means that we cover the cost of the operation at the vet of our choice.

We are thankful to the Municipality for their contribution and to any and all donations which keeps us up and running. We share the building with the municipal animal pound. Monetary donations, pet food and pet supply donations are always welcome.

Monetary donations made payable to the Crowsnest SPCA are gratefully accepted and can be mailed to PO Box 725, Blairmore, Alberta T0K 0E0. All donations will receive a taxable donation receipt. Please ensure that we have your current mailing address.

If you would like to donate items they can be dropped off at our physical location in Hillcrest at 22213 - 9th Avenue. Please visit our List of Appreciated Items for a complete overview.

Directions to the shelter:

To find us, we are located in the town of Hillcrest, in southwestern Alberta, Canada within the Municipality of The Crowsnest Pass. It is approximately an hour and 15 minute drive west of Lethbridge on Highway #3... or an approximately 2 hour drive south and west of Calgary using Highway #22 and Highway #3. We are at the West Hillcrest access which turns south off of Highway #3...cross the railroad tracks...cross the bridge...up the hill...and turn east into the gravel parking lot before the "Y" in the road...where our little tiny cinder block building sits between two large metal municipal public works buildings. Hope to see you soon!
